How this site works
Privacy Policy
What FIRE in Scrubs collects, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version: the calculators keep your numbers in your browser, we use a few standard services to run the site and send email, and we don’t sell your personal information.
Questions or requests: email retireat40md@gmail.com. FIRE in Scrubs is run by two cofounders: Mo, an emergency physician who writes under a pen name, and Brion, a registered nurse.
Information you give us
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address goes to Kit, the service that sends our emails. Kit may record whether emails are opened and which links are clicked.
- Email you send us. We keep it so we can reply.
Comments are turned off, so the site doesn’t collect any.
Numbers you enter in the calculators
The calculators run in your browser. They don’t send the numbers you enter to our server, and they don’t save them. Close the page and they’re gone.
Information collected automatically
- Hosting and security. Our host, SiteGround, and its security tools process technical data such as IP addresses and requested pages to keep the site running and block attacks.
- No analytics. The site doesn’t use Google Analytics or any other analytics service. If we ever add one, we’ll update this page first.
Third-party services and cookies
Some features load content from other companies, which can receive your IP address and may set their own cookies. These include Google (web fonts) and Kit (the signup form). Their own privacy policies apply to what they collect.
Affiliate links. If a link on this site is an affiliate link, it’s labeled where it appears. If you click one, the company or the network that runs its affiliate program may set a cookie so the referral is credited to this site. How the site makes money.

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers described here, or when the law requires it.

- Your information. Email us to ask what we have about you, or to correct or delete it.
How long we keep it

Security
The site runs over HTTPS and uses its host’s security tools. No website or email service is perfectly secure, so please don’t send account numbers, passwords or health details by email.
